Can your school help the Dublin Simon Community?
It's
that time of year again! The Dublin
Simon Community Fun Run (5 mile road race) will take place
on Saturday 9th of October 2010 in the Phoenix Park. The
Dublin Simon Community would like to get as much support
as possible from Dublin Secondary Schools. Dublin
Simon would love to have a team from your school there
on the day to represent your school.
Why Take Part?
The Fun Run is a really great way to start the school year! It
can be used for team building, generating sporting interest
and creating sporting competitiveness (students could challenge
each other on race times and sponsorship monies raised),
and raising awareness of homeless issues and Dublin Simon
Services. Most importantly, it gives students
a short term fundraising and fitness goal. As
well as being a fun day out, the Fun Run is the perfect
opportunity for schools from across the city. There
will of course be a goody bag provided for all participants. All
this by simply getting your school involved, be it a small
group from various years or groups from each year competing
against each other! . Most importantly your school teams will
have the opportunity to directly help Dublin’s homeless.
What Prizes are on offer?
There will be a perpetual trophy
award entitled ‘Dublin Simon’s School
of the Year’. The school with the
highest sponsorship monies raised per participant will
be awarded this prize. As always goody bags will be given
to all participants on the day together with a collectable
t-shirt and Certificates of Participation. There
will be plenty of spot prizes up for grabs on the day too.
How to Participate?
You can register in the following ways; Internet: simply
follow this link
to schools registration, Telephone: 01-6715551,
Post: download
entry form here and post to Dublin
Simon Community, PO Box 581, Dublin
2, with the lead teacher’s details together
and a list of student Fun Runners names.
How Much does it cost?
This year the registration fee per school is €20. (The
individual fee is €10 for those under 18 and €20
for those over 18.) We have set the school fee collectively
at only €20 to give students the opportunity to raise
sponsorship monies needed to fund Dublin Simon Services
instead. The suggested sponsorship amount per student is €50.
Of course, we welcome sponsorships of any amount, no matter
how little or large.
How to Fundraise for Dublin Simon?
Once your school is registered, we will post you out sponsorship
cards for each student. If registering online you
can create your own School Sponsorship page where
you'll be provided with a link which your staff and students
can email to friends and family requesting them to sponsor
them online. Follow
this link for our Fundraising Tips for Schools.
We
hope your school will participate in the Fun Run and help
Dublin Simon help Dublin’s homeless!
